Jeremy was not very happy - but I got a call back. The I beam is now on order. He has agreed to call daily with a brief update on the progress and expectations. He indicated several times in the call that he is not making any money and that he is having to work other jobs to get the money together to finish this job. Too many over runs on the job. I told him I am not willing to talk about this part while I am at work- too volatile of a subject for me. He indicated that there were many things he had not planned for in the job:
1. Ibeam (cost is $1000- I confirmed)
2. Engineering overruns
3. Additional labor to jack-up the house and those kinds of things I did tell him we are to the point that we are going to call the CCB if this isn't finished.
I do think we are going to be "hand to mouth" until this job is complete. If he truly does call daily then that will help me live with this situation more easily than I am today.
A couple more things I forgot to put in this one...
1. He was not happy that I called his supplier. I reminded him that I do have the right to call given the lien process and that I know money is tight for him. I am not willing to have a lien put against our house.
2. I did tell him that had I not called this morning he would not have known that the I beam was not on order.
