Just like the postmen, Scott and his team have worked today through hail, sleet and snow today- literally. They arrived shortly after 9 this morning and have worked continuously throughout the day. They left just after 6 p.m. Today they have:
- Removed dirt from the back yard with the backhoe - we paid for the trailer. There is a bit of dirt that we will need to haul ourselves because it is mixed with other debris.
- Delivered lumber - posts and beams
- Prepared the foundation and floor area for post and beams - cut access hole in foundation. (there was a good bit of debris in the dirt)
- Dug holes for the patio footings and installed posts and beams.
For the most part there were two people here all day and Scott showed up in the morning and then later in the afternoon to move the dirt.
Yeah for progress!!!!
Scott talked with Deb and I about a couple of issues:
- The line of the ceiling is going to slope three inches so the trusses will follow that slope as well. This is a result of having to raise the floor.
- The foundation was poured crocked causing an overhang of 2" to occur on the side of Eloise's house. This will look strange when we are done because there will be a bent flashing on the exterior.
- We also agreed that the wall between the pantry and the "mud room" will be removed and the wall between the kitchen and this area will be doubled to give better support to our second story.
